ICRC mum on Lacaba’s whereabouts

MANILA, Philippines – The International Committee of the Red Cross was mum Friday on the whereabouts of Mary Jean Lacaba who was freed Thursday, after being held for 77 days by the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu.

Anastasia Isyuk, the ICRC’s media officer in Manila, declined to disclose Lacaba’s location in Manila.

“Let us respect the privacy of Mary Jean. We’re happy that she’s back with her family and with the ICRC,” she said.

Local Red Cross officials said Lacaba was flown to Manila from Zamboanga City Friday morning and was turned over to ICRC officials, who met her and her family at the airport.
